Privacy Policy

Who we are

This policy explains how personal data is handled on simondwyer.eu, including bookings and sign-up forms. The data controller is Simon Dwyer SRL (enterprise and VAT number BE 1023.326.244), Rue Neerveld 105E, 1200 Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Belgium.

For any privacy question or request, email simon.p.dwyer@pm.me or call +32 471 77 24 96. We aim to reply within one month, as the GDPR requires.

What data we collect

We only collect what you give us, plus the basic technical data every website receives.

  • Booking form (e.g. Open Meditation Evening, appointments): your name and email are required; phone, address, a message and your email preferences are optional.

  • Sign-up and enquiry forms: your email address is required; your name, a message and your email preferences are optional.

  • Payments or donations: payment status and amount, only if you pay. Card details are handled by the payment provider, never by us.

  • Emails we send: whether an email was delivered, opened or clicked (automatic).

  • Visiting the site: IP address, browser, device and pages visited, via cookies (automatic; see Cookies).

Please don't put health or other sensitive details in the booking message field. If you are a therapy client, see the note below.

Why we use it, and on what legal basis

Each use of your data rests on one legal basis under Article 6 of the GDPR.

  • Managing your booking or course place (confirmations, reminders, changes and cancellations): contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).

  • Monthly Open Meditation Evening updates: your consent, only if you tick that box (Art. 6(1)(a)).

  • Future course announcements, including yoga philosophy and related texts: your consent, only if you tick that box (Art. 6(1)(a)).

  • Keeping invoices and payment records: legal obligation under Belgian accounting and tax law (Art. 6(1)(c)).

  • Keeping the site secure and working, and preventing spam: legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).

The two email lists are separate. Ticking one does not sign you up for the other, and both boxes start unticked. We never sell your data or use it for automated decisions about you.

Emails and unsubscribing

You can withdraw consent at any time, and it's as easy as giving it.

  • Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

  • You can also email simon.p.dwyer@pm.me and ask to be removed from one or both lists.

  • Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything we sent before, or your bookings.

If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so that you're never emailed again by mistake. Booking confirmations and reminders are service messages, not marketing, so they still arrive while you have a booking.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers needed to run the site, and only for that purpose.

  • Wix.com Ltd: hosts the website and stores bookings, contacts and email lists; sends our emails.

  • PayPal: processes payments and donations (currently the only online payment provider).

  • Our accountant: keeps invoices and accounting records.

Wix is based in Israel, which the European Commission recognises as providing adequate data protection. Some Wix service providers are in the United States. Those transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

We will disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep data only as long as we need it, then delete it.

  • Booking details: 2 years after your last booking.

  • Email list membership: until you unsubscribe, or 2 years with no opens or clicks, after which we remove you.

  • Unsubscribe record (email address only): as long as needed so that you're never emailed again.

  • Invoices and payment records: 7 years, as Belgian accounting law requires.

Cookies

The site uses essential cookies set by Wix to work properly, for example to complete a booking. These need no consent.

Any analytics or marketing cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time through the banner or your browser settings.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time, free of charge, to:

  • show you the data we hold about you, and give you a copy

  • correct anything that's wrong

  • delete your data, unless we must keep it by law (e.g. invoices)

  • limit how we use it, or object to a use based on legitimate interests

  • send your data to you or another provider in a common format

  • withdraw any consent you gave

To make a request, email simon.p.dwyer@pm.me. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.

If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, dataprotectionauthority.be.

Therapy clients, security and changes

Therapy clients. This website is not used for therapy records. If you book or enquire through it, it holds only the details you enter, such as your name, contact details and appointment times. Nothing about your history or what you share in sessions is stored here.

Security. Your data is stored with Wix, over encrypted connections, and only Simon has access to it.

Changes. If this policy changes, we'll update it on this page and change the date below. If the change is significant, we'll tell subscribers by email.
